Overheard In the Car

We're in the car, on our way to dinner. AB is sick, slightly feverish, and a little loopy. Maybe we all are. I make a right, and the turkey in front of me does the same, then quickly makes a sharp left.

R: What the...
AB: What the... What the fdkfre. What the FUCK! What the Fuuucccckkkk! What the fuck!

She enunciated "fuck" a little more clearly each time. I'm dying, trying to hide my glee from her, as she cannot see me from the backseat. R laughs imperceptibly and quickly changes the subject to something we are passing, successfully redirecting her attention away from the new phrase she is trying on. I smile happily all the way to our destination.

We're all going to hell.

See you there.

It Has Begun

We're in Subway eating dinner. AB says:

"Katie has a heart on her zipper. Why don't I have a heart on my zipper? Can we buy me a heart for my zipper?"

Peer pressure meets commercialization for the first time.

Aaah. It's going to be a long road.

All is well. Busy. Training not going that well, but each day my cold/allergies/whatever recede more.

And you know I don't blog much when I'm happy.

Dinner

I was late getting home. Called R.

"Want me to pick something up on the way home?"
"Sure."
"What do you want?"
"I don't know. Ask AB. AB! Talk to your Mother."
"Hello?"
"Hey sweetie how was your day?"
"Fine."
"What do you want for dinner?"
"I want pizza."
(A grumbles loudly.)
(R in the background) "Tell her I didn't tell you to say that."
"Daddy didn't tell me to say that."
"All right. Tell Daddy he has to order it."

That was easy. Artery-clogging bad example food for dinner. Aaaawesome.

And it tasted goood.

Dirty, Rotten Scoundrels

At night our heart-rendingly beautiful and stomach-floppingly brilliant daughter tells us she is not tired.

Every night we tell her:

"All you have to do is lay in bed for ten hours, then you can get up."

Every night she responds with a cheery, "Okay!"

We are evil incarnate.

Quote

We're watching 101 Dalmations. It's a VCR tape. The opening credits are frightfully dull and very long.

AB says: This is taking a long time to load.

Awesome.

80's Dance Party

Today is a day off of running. Yesterday's 2-mile was slooooow (28:48). I was tired. I'm interested to see how tomorrow's 3-mile goes.

Ack. Could I be any more boring? Newp!

AB is doing really well with potty training. No accidents in forever. She is taking advantage of the "I have to peepee!" call at night, so I told her the fable about the little boy who cried wolf. She was unimpressed. One night she pushed every button I had and spent about 10 minutes on the potty while producing nothing. Total false alarm. I made the comment that if she has to pee she should do it in her diaper.

Next morning she peed in her diaper and it leaked onto her panties and jammies. She told R first thing that "Mommy told me I should peepee in my diaper." Wow. Did I feel like a total ass or what? File that away in the "guilt file," for later perusal.

Playdate tonight. Meeting a bud for coffee tomorrow after the 3-mile. Date night tomorrow. Sunday - 2 miles and unknown after that. Likely watching AB while R does whatever he wants since he'll be with her while I lunch and run and (maybe) squeeze in a pedicure. Oho my life is terrible.

All right. Move along. Have a great weekend. What are you doing?

But first: read this. OMG!!!
