Sunday Funday, a.k.a The Widow and Orphan Go Out
I want to tell you about last Sunday.
AB and I had a really, really fun day. It started off with me sleeping until almost 11 because I worked late (till 3 a.m. late). AB and R picked up the downstairs like I had asked them. I ate breakfast and invented a new game ("boneless chicken") with AB.
My mom came over and the visit went fine. No real reason to share, I'm done being bitter about how my mother is and merely accept it, allowing AB to have as positive a maternal grandmother experience as possible.
Then as Grammy was leaving I asked AB if she wanted to go to the park. I whispered into her ear all-secretive-like. "When Grammy leaves... do you want to go to the park?"
Without missing a beat she whispers right back into my ear, "When Grammy leaves can I have the sucker I got at the Fall Festival yesterday?" Bwahahaha! She is so funny.
She ate some of it, over half I guess, which was the reason for the tantrum you'll read about here in a few. We drove to get the car washed (the outside), making lots of noise about how "scary" it was. It was fun. Then we went to the park and spent about an hour running around like dorks. Man, it was HOT! Freakish hot day and I was wearing jeans. AB did really well balancing on obstacles, using her gymnastics skills.
Then it was time for lunch. We agreed on Chipotle. When we passed McDonald's she decided she wanted that. I said no. Melt. Down. City. Took me a long time to talk her through it, and we went and washed our hands before enjoying a wonderful lunch. She told me she loved me apropos to nothing. It was wonderful.
Then we were off again! This time to Target to buy birthday presents and cat litter. She was really good and we had fun.
We were checking out. All during our shopping trip she had said she wanted to buy this, buy that, and wasn't helping me pick out a gift. I finally got it through her head that she wasn't getting any new toys this day. At the checkout lane she found an adorable little ($5) toy similar to several others she already had. She said, "I really like this, but I can't get anything today." I stopped, turned, focused completely on her and knelt down, looking closely at the little toy. What maturity she showed! How amazing she is. I asked her if she really wanted it and she said yes. I agreed and told her why.
When we got home Dad decided he wanted me to go get something to eat. AB decided she wanted to go with me. How odd. Then I put her to bed when we got back. What a fun, amazing day.
I kinda like that kid.
And I do not want any more.

One can be perfect. Sounds like you've already figured that out.
