Here's my plan: don't ever tell anyone you know about your blog. It's worked for me.
Okay, I tell them all the time, they're just massively disinterested in my life.
Or they're savoring every word and don't want to talk to you about their obsession with your online persona.

Sadly, you're right. I can write political posts until I'm slumped over the computer, but what really gets response from commenters are the stupid stories about my pathetic life.

I guess this is what people relate to: stories showing we're all humans, fumbling toward one goal or another, trying to avoid face planting the pavement of our path.
