Short Friday, Long Weekend

OK, this morning I woke up later. I ate chips and salsa/bean dip for dinner and maybe that was too close to sugar b/c I had a small case of the ass-drag. When I actually started running my muscles actually hurt. It worked itself out after about a minute, then returned at 15 minutes. I pretty much walked after that. Oh well. I've learned my lesson. I listen to my body now. It's gotta keep me running for the next 30 years so I can be a GILF.

Yesterday morning R was awakened by an AB poking him. This is only strange because I was out running. She had climbed out of her crib, come out of her room, opened our door, and stood beside him and poked him. Do you find this as amusing as I do? Probably not. However - the best part is yet to come. He talks to her and manages to get her back into her bed. She says, "but my bear is downstairs." WHAT? You went downstairs while Daddy was asleep and Mommy wasn't here? Yes, she did, to play with a new toy. Little monster. Only then did she come back up and wake daddy. Now I find that especially funny. Not just because she did it, but because R slept through it! Mr. Used To Wake At The First Sigh is now Mr. Sleeps Through Mischief.

So we are removing the gate from her crib and keeping the upstairs gate closed at all times. She can no longer be trusted. I want to put a thing on her door to keep her in there (the doorknob cover that is hard to finagle), but R does not. She has been really sweet and affectionate lately. This nicely counters the periods of screaming disobedience.

R is taking her to the pool today. She will love that. We're farm-bound this weekend, and taking her inflatable pool. She will have fun. I will be miserable - because it's the farm. Maybe I'll sneak off and do some aggressive shopping. Gawd I'm shallow. At least I know it, right? That's my excuse for everything. At least I know it, right?
