Crème Brûlée for Everyone!

We were able to give our toddler a real treat last night. The evening started out with a little park action, where she ran around and around until she was dying of thirst and panting like a dog. I chased her a little more at that point, and we were ready to go to dinner.

I was in the mood for this wonderful little Italian restaurant around the corner. We arrived and took our seats. I washed AB's hands while R ordered me a glass of wine. So far so good. They brought us tapenade that we didn't order; no problem. I can eat that shit if I have to. Brought my caprese salad while AB ate parmesan cheese with a spoon. Is that weird? She loves it. When we told her there would be parmesan where we were going she yelled: "PARMESAN!!" I think that's kinda weird.

Anyway, she gets a piece of mozzarella from my salad and she dips it into parmesan. Our food arrives early. No problemo. I start cooling pasta for AB and she eats, oh, what? About 20 pieces of penne? A lot for her. She LOVES it. I finish the salad (most of it; needs more basil) and the tapenade. Get the pasta to go. R is digging his pizza, and AB eats a little of it. We're kinda full. Then the server says the following: "blah blah crème brûlée blah blah." What? Crème brûlée? Bring us some of that, pronto. Or whatever it is you say in Italy.

It arrived. It was beautiful. Thinly sliced fruit on top; perfect caramelization. AB ate some fruit and I broke a small bite for her. It was momentous. Her first bite of crème brûlée. We watched her with bated breath. We leaned toward her. "Do you like it?" "Yeah!" Huge smiles. The three of us finish it off. Yummy. She is stuffed. We are all stuffed. It was a wonderful dinner.

So after that huge dinner my run this morning was more like a... well-developed walk. I started out jogging and hit about 6 minutes and walked. Had trouble getting my head back in the game, so I walked a good bit. Even so I finished 4 minutes over my goal. Not too bad; I'm not going to freak about it. (Believe it or not.) Sugar and I do NOT get along. When I eat sugar I've noticed I don't do well running the next morning. You'd think I could remember that when I go to eat that crème brûlée or those chocolate covered blueberries or even that tiny cup of tiramisu. Grrr. One of these days I'll be able to say no. Or I'll die of Type II diabetes. Do people actually die from that? Hmm.

So go check this out ye grammar illiterate and have a great hump day.
