Greasy Spot

AB's newest word is "afterwards." Yes, of course she uses it correctly.

I have a new favorite co-worker. He's in HR. We have joked around a bit in the past, goofing off, being silly. He's a nice guy and we get along. He borrowed a CD and returned it promptly. (Hey, that's important!)

So we're warming up our lunch. His is a stewy looking bit of messiness. He doesn't cover it. I say,

"You should probably cover that. It's going to leave big greasy spots all over the microwave."

He mutters so that I hear him perfectly,

"You're going to leave a big greasy spot."

Our eyes meet. Mine grow larger. He says,

"Did I say that out loud?"

I'm quite certain my guffawing could be heard for miles around.

I love that kind of comeback! Just the kind of thing I'd like to say to people, but never mutter it until I'm alone in my car.

Dude sounds like fun. Makes me miss working with people. A little.

If I've learned anything, it's that work stories rarely relate to anyone not at work.
